Luke Jermay's Illumination is much more than a traditional book test. It is a complete mentalism routine of approximately 15 minutes in which words, stories, thoughts, and emotions come together. The act has been refined by Jermay over thousands of performances and can be incorporated directly into an existing show as a complete routine.

For the first phase, two spectators are invited and each receives a book. They open a random page and read the first paragraph in silence. With the first participant, not only does information from the book seem to be revealed, but the entire audience becomes involved in the emotions of the character from the story.

With the second participant, the routine takes a different direction. Together with the audience, you create a distinct sound that perfectly matches the environment in which the passage being read takes place. As a result, Illumination goes beyond simply guessing a word or phrase, creating a complete experience for the entire room.

For the final, a new contestant comes forward. They choose a book, open a random page, and focus on a long and difficult word. While the spectator visualizes this word, you try to capture the images on a notepad. The drawings initially seem to have no meaning, until a hidden connection is revealed and everything comes together.

Illumination comes with two specially crafted books. These are designed to look convincing and feel natural. The system is built so that you can keep your hands completely free during the presentation.

No dexterity is required. In the comprehensive instructional video, Luke Jermay explains the entire procedure and presentation. With just the two included books and a notepad, you can present the routine to small groups of approximately 10 people up to large halls with as many as 1,000 spectators.
