LOCKED is a powerful and interactive mentalism routine where completely free choices ultimately lead to one impossible outcome. A combination of numbers, personal objects, and a real padlock creates a surprising climax.

You start with one or three spectators. A participant attaches one or more rings to the shackle of a padlock with a four-digit combination. The rings come from the spectators themselves, giving the effect an immediate personal touch.

Next, introduce nine numbered poker-sized cards. The participants are completely free to determine the colors, order, and positions of the cards. In this way, three different three-digit numbers are composed.

Despite all the free choices, something special happens. When the three numbers are added together, the result turns out to match the four-digit opening combination of the padlock exactly.

The spectators' smartphones can be used during the routine, allowing the participants themselves to remain actively involved in the effect.
