Suspect – A Murder Mystery Full of Mentalism

On a dark winter evening, twelve strangers gather in an old, mysterious country house. No one knows why they have been invited or who their mysterious host is.

Then the lights flicker.

A scream is heard.

A murder has been committed.

The doors are locked, a detective arrives, and somewhere among those present is the murderer. With Suspect, you transform this classic murder mystery into an interactive mentalism routine in which your spectator makes virtually all the decisions themselves.

And yet you know exactly what happened.

The effect

You introduce five cards with different rooms. A spectator may shuffle these cards themselves and lay them down in any order they wish.

Next, twelve suspects come into view.

While you stand with your back to the table, the spectator freely chooses one of these twelve people as the secret killer.

Next, four more suspects are selected and mixed. The spectator then places a suspect in each of the rooms themselves.

You are not looking.

You do not touch the cards.

There are no suspicious actions, and from the public's perspective, every decision appears completely free.

Nevertheless, you are ultimately able to identify the correct murderer with absolute certainty.

And it doesn't stop there.

After the reveal, another unexpected kicker follows that brings the entire mystery together and concludes the routine with an extra impossible climax.

Complete hands-off mentalism

One of Suspect's strongest qualities is that the spectator does virtually everything themselves. The cards are shuffled, chosen, and laid down by the participant, while the performer even stands with their back to the deck at crucial moments.
