WORLD TRAVELER by Greg Gleason is a Cardtoon-inspired routine in which a plane flies around the earth and ends at the freely named destination. Any choice from 50 global locations is possible.
WORLD TRAVELER by Greg Gleason is a visual map routine inspired by Dan Harlan's well-known Cardtoon. Instead of a traditional map animation, this version revolves entirely around travel and a freely named destination.
You introduce a special deck of cards in which every card shows an image of the Earth, an airplane, and another location. You mention that you travel a lot and use the deck to determine where your next trip will take you.
Next, you ask the spectator where he or she would most like to go on vacation. Suppose Japan is mentioned. The participant could have chosen from dozens of destinations, but decides to go for Japan with complete freedom.
You slowly riff your way through the deck of cards. Like a short animated film, the viewer sees the plane flying around the earth. Eventually, a trail of clouds appears behind the plane, and within it, the chosen destination becomes visible: JAPAN.
WORLD TRAVELER is not limited to one specific outcome. According to the creator, any of the 50 available locations around the world can be named and revealed.
Only a small amount of card technique is required for the performance. According to the description, the necessary handling is within the reach of virtually every magician.
Thanks to its recognizable subject matter, WORLD TRAVELER is particularly suitable as an icebreaker. Use it to start a close-up or walk-around performance, when approaching a table, or when someone spontaneously asks if you can show a trick.
You receive the specially designed WORLD TRAVELER deck of cards, printed by USPCC, plus access to the video tutorial explaining the complete routine and handling.
