Chop Shop by John Bannon is a clever and highly entertaining packet trick in which you challenge the audience to catch you cheating. Just when they think they understand what is happening, a new surprise follows, culminating in a powerful transformation that no one sees coming.

You start with four cards: three Jokers with a blue back and one Queen of Spades with a red back. The Queen of Spades clearly goes into your pocket, after which you challenge the spectators to discover how you secretly get her back among the Jokers. Yet, time and again, the red Queen of Spades inexplicably reappears in the deck.

When you announce that you need a distraction this time, a striking yellow card with the word LOOK suddenly appears among the Jokers. This card is also set aside, but once again a card with a red back appears.

Then comes the grand finale. You admit that you did indeed cheat, but even more than the audience thought. The red card suddenly turns out to be the Ace of Spades. Next, the remaining cards are turned over and the Jokers have also disappeared; all the cards have changed into the four Aces.

Chop Shop comes complete with all necessary cards. The techniques used are relatively simple, making them accessible to beginning magicians. There are no fragile mechanical gimmicks, and at the end, all cards on the table can be examined.
